Apimac has introduced Encrypt Mail 1.0 (http://www.apimac.com/encrypt_mail/), an update of its mail encryption solution for Mac OS X 10.5 and higher. It now offers support for using Mail for sending messages and encrypted files.
Version 2.0 also gives the user the ability to compose messages with encrypted files for Mail. There are user interface tweaks and various code optimizations and improvements to product stability
Designed for both personal and business use, Encrypt Mail is a client for sending encrypted emails and/or encrypted attachments. Mac based recipients will receive a DMG password protected file. Windows and Linux based recipients will receive a ZIP password protected archive instead. All contacts are handled in a list separated from Mac OS X’s built-in Address Book.
Encrypt Mail is an alternative solution to manual encryption or PSE keys. To send a message, double click a person in the contact list and a new message window appears already addressed. To send an encrypted file, drag the file over the recipient’s name and check the encryption option. Encrypt Mail will then ask the user to provide a password of the their choice to protect the archive. The application also offers the possibility to anonymize the names of the file attachments to be sent. Encrypt Mail doesn’t store sent files and even has an option to prevent tracking of sent messages.
A single computer license for Encrypt Mail 1.0 is US$29.99 from the Apimac online store. A site license (up to five computers) is available for $34.99; educational licenses (up to 50 computers) are also available.
