iPhone/iPod/iPad apps for July 29


Here are the latest iPhone/iPod touch/iPod/iPad apps announced. You can find 'em at the Apple App Store (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).

SeeItWithus has announced VideoPix for iPad 1.0. The US$2.99 app supports frame grabbing, screencapping, slow motion playback at configurable fps, frame by frame analysis of video clips from iPad's Photo Albums and also from videos imported from computer through local WiFi. Videos can be imported into iPad's Photo Albums using either iTunes or through iPad Camera Connection Kit.

AMP (Advanced Mobile Protection) has released its OnCall Defender app that gives iPhone users a panic alarm and a medical alert, or a combination of the two, and connects subscribers to a 24-hour monitoring station with a direct line to law enforcement and EMS dispatch. Monitoring services are available in the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The OnCall Defender App requires an active cellular service account and the user's device must have an available GPS signal and cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Three service plans are available with pricing starting at $6.99 per month for the panic alarm, $9.99 per month for the medical alert, and $11.99 per month for the combination.

publicspace.net has debuted StretchZ Free 1.0 and StretchZ 1.4 for iOS 4. StretchZ offers a way to de-stress on the go. British cartoonist, Nick Miller, presents 30 of the most effective stress-busting stretches, each illustrated in Retina Display quality. StretchZ 1.4 adds 10 new stretching exercises and introduces swipe scrolling through the exercises. StretchZ Free 1.0 features the first 10 stretches of the full version. StretchZ 1.4 costs IS$1.99, and StretchZ Free 1.0 is, well, free.

AppsPerfect has announced MobiMind Facebook Edition 2.3 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. In the update of the game, users can now share their high scores on Facebook, monitor their world wide ranking, and even compete for cash prizes. The new release is free to the first 10,000 users.

ConglomerApps has released Trippy Visuals 1.1 for iPad users. The $0.99 app offers users a library of colorful illusions; the images can be used as screen savers or picture frames on an iPad. Videos have been added to the Trippy Visuals' library.

Blackleaf Software has introduced Concealed Handgun License State Reciprocity List 1.6 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The $0.99 app puts handgun reciprocity information for all 50 states right at users' finger tips.

Volatile Works has unveiled Swim Express Stopwatch 2.2 and Swim Express Lite for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users. The $2.99 app offers data collection, calculation and storage to help swimmers improve their athletic performance. In the latest update, users benefit from more accurate formulas for computing stroke efficiency and a new website where they can upload, store and analyze data.

GTX Corporation has rolled out GPS Tracking 1.1 for the iPad. The US$4.99 app offers privacy, lets users share and upload pictures to Facebook and Twitter and more.

Matrix Knowledge Management has updated its $11.99 VPhone app to version 1.2. The VoIP app has been updated to work on iOS4.

The Tiffen Company is offering an update to Photo fx Ultra, a photo enhancement software app for the iPad.  The Photo fx Ultra v2 is available at the Apple Apple Store for $5.99 and a free update to current Photo fx Ultra users.
