JNSoftware (http://www.jonn8.com/) has updated JABMenu, a tool for utilizing your Mac OS X Address Book data through a system-wide menu, to version 2.5. The new version adds support for networked sources (i.e., Exchange and CardDAV servers) and improved flexibility in acting on contact data through enhanced scripting support.

JABMenu also adds an option to toggle related groups in the “Groups” submenu for the contacts specified in the contact source preference. Additionally, the upgrade adds a menu item to clear the data cache without having to open the preferences window and help buttons in the preferences window.

JABMenu provides access to your contacts’ phone numbers, email, instant messaging, and postal addresses, URLs, and notes. Selecting a menu item can trigger an action such as displaying it in large type, copying it to the clipboard, creating a new email message, dialing the phone, or showing an address on a map.

JABMenu, a Universal Binary for both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later. It’s available in English and French. JABMenu costs US$15, though version 2.5 is a free update for registered users of version 2.x.
