Hog Bay Software has released PlainText, a free Dropbox text editor of the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It allows you to create and organize your documents in folders and (optionally) sync everything with Dropbox.com.
ClearPractice (http://clearpractice.com/ehr/home.cfm), a provider of software solutions for physicians and medical groups, has announced the general market release of Nimble, the company’s comprehensive electronic medical record application designed and developed specifically for the iPad. As part of the product release, the company is providing an iPad and a copy of Nimble free of charge to the first 500 physicians that subscribe to the Practice Edition of ClearPractice, the company’s integrated SaaS-based EMR and practice management solution.
MyNature has launched MyNature State Tree Quiz 1.0, their newest app for iOS devices. The US$1.99 app contains 50 multiple choice questions to test the user’s knowledge of each state tree. Once answered correctly, the user can view full color digital photographs of each tree, leaf, bark, fruit, profile and range map, as well as an illustrated drawing and full description of the tree itself.
Everything Techs has pitched out Home Run Derby Challenge 1.0, an accelerometer based game for iOS devices. In the $1.99 game, the player swings by flicking his wrist quickly, a movement measured by the iOS device. Pitches come at various speeds, and only well hit balls will go over the fence for a home run. The player’s speed and reflexes are tested as they attempt to swing as hard as possible at exactly the right time, adding points by hitting home runs.
“The Hunt – Episode 1: American Adventure” is a new $0.99 adventure game for the iPhone in which you solve riddles based on almost 50 real world places and events, then track down and visit those places on the interactive map.
ONYX Apps has introduced Oscilloscope 1.0, a $11.99 scilloscope and signal generator app. Designed to plot audio signals, monitor equipment, analyze events, and test circuits, it doubles as a learning tool. Input signals are acquired via the built-in microphone or an external device connected to the microphone input. Oscilloscope’s interface includes many standard oscilloscope controls, such as triggering, time and voltage per division, signal measurement cursors, and more.
Avenza Systems., producers of MAPublisher cartographic software for Adobe Illustrator and Geographic Imager spatial tools for Adobe Photoshop, has rolled out PDF Maps, a free geospatial PDF reader for Apple iOS devices including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Avenza President Ted Florence says PDF Maps is the first application of its kind designed specifically for using geographically-aware PDF files on portable devices and opens the door to allowing any map to be GPS-aware. It will give users the power to interact with georeferenced PDF maps and images directly from their iOS device with viewing performance levels well above other mobile PDF viewing applications, he adds.
