MarkLogic Corp. (http://www.marklogic.com) has announced a new version of its database, MarkLogic Server 4.2, which includes new features for enterprises to store, manage, and analyze unstructured information.

The new release includes MarkLogic Information Studio, which the folks at MarkLogic say is the industry’s first ETL (extract, transformation, and loading) tool for managing unstructured information as well as new features for availability and recovery including full database replication. With MarkLogic 4.2’s Information Studio, customers can drag and drop files or point to a file directory to load into MarkLogic.

MarkLogic 4.2 also sports:

° XSLT support, which expands options that customers can employ to access and transform information in the software;

° Replication, which enables organizations to selectively replicate documents or parts of documents across databases;

° Database rollback, which enables immediately setting the database state at a specified point in time;

° Failover, which llows servers to automatically take over for a failed hardware server within a cluster;

° Proximity boost, which tunes search relevance by boosting scores on documents based on proximity of terms.
