10 iPhone apps for starters

By Alex Cole

So, you’ve just got yourself a nice and shiny iPhone 4. Wondering what useful apps you could install? That’s a good question as there are hundreds of thousands various applications (free and paid-for versions) that could be possibly useful for you. Here’s a list of 10 interesting apps for your iPhone that could help you get started.

° Pandora Radio v.3.1. This application is capable of streaming radio. The coolest thing about it is that music keeps playing even when you're doing other things on your iPhone. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pandora-radio/id284035177?mt=8

° JiWire Wi-Fi finder v.2. Free Internet is always a heartwarming experience. Wi-Fi finder stores 200.000+ of Wi-Fi access points all over the world (135 countries to be more specific), so you can always expect to stay connected to the WWW as long as you keep your iPhone around. http://www.jiwire.com/iphone

° BeamME CV. If you’re looking for job, this application just might help you. BeamME CV gives you an opportunity to have a business card and professional resume on your iPhone any time you’ll need it. Create your vCard and send it to any e-mail address or phone number. http://rmbrme.com/

°Air Sharing v.2.4.2. This app actually allows you to transfer files to your computer and visa verse absolutely wirelessly. Plus it allows the iPhone to view a vast variety of file types. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-sharing/id289943355?mt=8

° Drunk Dialer. Believe it or not, most people do drink alcohol beverages sometimes. And when this happens you don’t want to stay alone, don’t you? This iPhone app is specifically designed to randomly connect you with one of your friends (you can exclude your wife and boss if you’d like to) and even suggest you the address of the nearest bar. http://mplayit.com/#iphone/drunk-dialer/id/337953344

° 4shared Music. This one was designed for music lovers. You’ll never get bored with 4shared Music while traveling somewhere, riding your bike to work or whatever. You can search, stream and make lists of your favorite music tracks using 4shared. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/4shared-music/id393505358?mt=8#

° Shazam v.3.1. Another great music oriented application. Shazam allows you to identify songs using your iPhone's integrated microphone. Impress your friends with your knowledge. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shazam/id284993459?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2

° BeejiveIM. BeejiveIM  is an ultimate messenger that will allow you to communicate with all your buddies at the same time regardless of their IM type. http://www.beejive.com/

° AP Mobile 3.1. You might be surprised but even the Associated Press has its own iPhone application, which gives you all the latest info on what’s happening in the world. http://www.getapmobile.com/

° LocalEats. This one lists the best 100 restaurants in each of the 50 largest U.S. cities according to the "Where the Locals Eat" series of books. Find the best place near you or any address from the database. This app provides some basic info such as an address, phone number and prices. Yummy! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/localeats/id285518463?mt=8
