Opena Case unique, but could be more protective

By David Foster

The US$39.99 Opena Case (http://www.Openacase.com) is the world's first iPhone 4/4S case and bottle opener in one. It has a hard shell made of polycarbonate.

It is very strong and slick to the touch. The case protects all the edges, but does not cover the screen. The sides of the case rise above the screen slightly offering the screen protection. The case has a very small profile overall.

The best part about this case is the stainless steel bottle opener. The sliding mechanism for the bottle opener is easy to use and locks into the extended and retracted positions. I was a little skeptical at first because I did not want to break my phone opening a bottle, but it works perfectly. It is also a great conversation piece! “My phone has an app for that...”

I am a big fan of some sort of screen protection which this case does not provide. So if you are like me then you will need to buy a screen protector with this case. It doesn’t provide the extreme protection of some other cases but it is also half the size as some of the bulky cases out there.

The case is great, the bottle opener works great and is unique. However, the minimalist case doesn’t provide as much protection as I would like.

1849′s Nevada Silver DLC is Still Search...
A few months ago, I took a look at 1849 from SomaSim. This Gold Rush-themed city builder for iPad had a fair bit going for it, but lacked in a few crucial areas to make it a true stand-out on the App Store. SomaSim has since added in a sandbox mode, and just last week the first content expansion, entitled Nevada Silver, went live. | Read more »
