Some thoughts on the WWDC keynote ...

Needless to say my predictions (http://macte.ch/mGHbx) on what would be unveiled at the 2012 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference were off by quite a bit. I was (mostly) right about MacBook Air updates, the apparent demise of the 17-inch MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion details and iOS info.

However, I had predicted a peak at a software development kit for the Apple TV (didn't happen), as well as iMac and Mac Pro updates. There was no mention of the former. And I want my Retina display Mac!

The Mac Pro went from eight cores to 12, but didn't add Thunderbolt or USB 3.0. Really, Apple? You're offering a "pro desktop" that lacks features of the new MacBook Air?

Also ...

° With the incredible Retina display on the new MacBook Pro, it sure would be nice if Apple brought Newsstand and iBookstore to the Mac.

° Retina display options for the current gen MacBook Pros and MacBooks Airs would be sweet.

° It was good to see FaceTime get some love yesterday (adding cellular support as well as Wi-Fi). Now perhaps Apple will get around to making it an "open industry standard, as the late Steve Jobs promised at the 2012 WWDC.

Finally, some final notes of interest from yesterday's keynote by Apple execs:

Also ....° An additional 32 countries will be getting localized versions of the Apple App Store later this month, making a total of 155 countries around the world.

° There are now 66 million Mac users. That's triple the number of fives years ago. Who says the Mac is heading toward obscurity? It's more popular than ever.

° Apple has shipped 26 million copies of Lion in nine months and 40% of Mac users are now using it. That's Apple's best selling OS X release ever.

It Came From Canada: Overkill 3
Overkill 3 is like every trope of big modern gaming rolled into one. It’s a sequel to an action-packed military shooter. It’s flashy and scripted and flaunts its sophisticated graphics.
