Fiksu Indexes rise in daily iPhone app download

Fiksu, Inc., a mobile app user acquisition platform spanning the global mobile ecosystem, reports app store competition rose slightly in June, while the cost to acquire loyal users increased by 14.3% during the month.

The Fiksu App Store Competitive Index -- which measures the average aggregate daily download volume of the top 200 free U.S. iPhone apps -- increased slightly by 1.98% in June to 4.63 million daily downloads, up from 4.54 million in May, as the anticipated uptick in summer download activity kicked in.

The "Fiksu Cost per Loyal User Index" increased by 14.3% in June to $1.44, from $1.26 in May. As many app brands operate around quarterly budgets, the Indexes recorded a boost in spending as Q2 came to a close and marketers utilized their remaining budgets, contributing to the rise in acquisition costs in June.

The Fiksu Indexes measure monthly fluctuations in competition for rank in the Apple App Store, and the cost to acquire loyal users, helping mobile app marketers benchmark their performance against industry averages, according to the folks at the acquisition platform.

"While caution was the keyword for last month's mobile marketing spends, renewed confidence appears to be June's theme," says Micah Adler, CEO, Fiksu. "We observed a shift as brands resumed use of UDID as one of several attribution options to maximize their mobile advertising reach. This, combined with quarter-end spending, drove up loyal user acquisition costs during the month."
