Updated: the latest updates from the Apple-Samsung trial (8-15)

The Apple-Samsung patent battle/trial is underway. Following is some of the latest highlights and where you can find more info.

"U.S. judge asked that the chief executives of Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd speak to each other at least once on the phone before a jury begins deliberating next week in the high-stakes patent trial between the two tech giants." -- 'Reuters" (http://macte.ch/4Z2wg)

"Samsung fired its opening salvo against Apple's allegation that the South Korean giant ripped off the iPhone design, and claimed it worked its arse off to develop its own gadgets. At the two tech titans' ongoing patent trial in the US yesterday, Sammy also argued that Apple's iProducts are not unique." -- "The Register" (http://macte.ch/J5WVF)

"Samsung designer says she picked phone, clock, and camera icons because they worked, not because they looked like Apple's iPhone icons." -- "InformationWeek" (http://macte.ch/k1rN5)

"Samsung has gone on the offensive in its court battle with Apple, accusing its rival of infringing patents related to emailing photographs and 3G wireless technology." -- "Telegraph" (http://macte.ch/MlYIS)

"Samsung yesterday made the tactical shift on the second day of presenting its case, in the third week of a jury trial in San Jose, California, by calling Woodward Yang, a Harvard University professor of electrical engineering, who testified that versions of Apple’s iPhone, iPod and iPad infringe three of the Korean company’s patents." -- "Korea Joonang Daily" (http://macte.ch/Ps6M2)

This is all part of the ongoing, global legal battle. Apple and Samsung have filed more than 30 lawsuits against each other across four continents. For example, Apple alleges that Samsung copied the slide-to-unlock technology of its iPhone and iPad devices.
