Have a laptop? Just Mobile's Alu-accessories worth a look

If you have a Mac laptop and an external display, Just Mobile (www.just-mobile.com) has two enticing accessories you should check out: the AluBase (top photo) and AluRack (bottom photo). The former is an upright MacBook stand, and the latter is a rear mount for the iMac and Thunderbolt Display.

It's crafted from a single piece of high-grade aluminum. The US$49.95 AluBase ships with plastic inserts (which work flawlessly) to hold a MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro with Retina display and MacBook Air firmly upright.

Conceived by the Danish designer Jakob Wagner, it's designed "to turn your MacBook into a desktop sculpture," according to Just Mobile. That may be a bit of a grandiose claim, but the AluBase is a classy piece of work.

However, I like the AluRack, also designed by Wagner, even more. The rear storage solution is a great accessory for your laptop -- especially if you have a Cinema Display or Thunderbolt Display as the looks of all these products blend seamlessly. Heck, the AluRack also offers a cool-looking rack for stowing an external drive on the back of an iMac.

The two-piece device screws together through the hole in the stand of your iMac or display -- and doesn't damage your hardware. It's built of high-grade aluminum and soft plastic. It's a great peripheral for keeping your desk free of clutter, whether you're a MacBook Pro or iMac user.

Rating:
AluBase: 9 out of 10
AluRack: 10 out of 10
