Apple rumors: Office & iOS, Retina display iPad mini

Here are the latest Apple rumors from the blogosphere:

"Microsoft will launch Office for the iPad, iPhone, and Android in early 2013, sources for The Verge claim. Dubbed Office Mobile, the software is expected to take the form of free apps that, on a basic level, will let people view Office documents. Users will allegedly require an account with Microsoft, like the current OneNote and SkyDrive apps." -- "MacNN" (www.macnn.com)

"The iPad mini may be in short supply, but Apple’s hardware partners are already readying the Retina-spec display for the iPad mini 2, according to sources in China. AU Optronics, which is one of Apple’s suppliers of 1024 x 768 panels for the current iPad mini, expects to begin mass producing 2048 x 1536 resolution 7.9-inch displays by the second half of 2013, DoNews reports, with eye-pleasing pixel density of 324 ppi." -- "SlashGear" (www.slashgear.com)

"Apple's annual capital expenditures report came in $2.3 billion higher than anticipated, which has led one analyst to believe Apple could have put a significant amount of money into key but struggling supplier Sharp." -- "AppleInsider" (www.appleinsider.com)

"Back in July, Apple revealed during developer testing of iOS 6 that it would be launching new icloud.com email addresses for users of the service, with former MobileMe members using me.com or mac.com address also receiving equivalent icloud.com addresses. Those new icloud.com addresses have been rolling out gradually over the past several months for former MobileMe members, and Apple now appears to have completed that transition, sending out an email to former MobileMe members notifying them of the new email address option." -- "MacRumors (www.macrumors.com)
