Apple rumors for Feb. 1

Here are the latest Apple-related rumors from the blog-o-sphere:

"The next full-sized iPad will adopt the same GF2 DITO display technology that Apple introduced in the iPad mini, sources claim. The new thin-film process will allow Apple to make significant reductions to the thickness and weight of the forthcoming fifth-generation iPad." -- "The Mac Observer" (www.macobserver.com)

"Apple has posted a pair of new job listings in the last week that suggest the company will be making further use of plastics in future products, supporting rumors that have circulated about the company producing a lower-cost iPhone that would prominently feature plastic in the body of the device. The job listings themselves suggest Apple is looking more for engineers that can help it push forward in "non-traditional" ways of using, shaping and controlling the material on behalf of suppliers as well as itself." -- "MacNN" (www.macnn.com)

"Because Apple lets users upgrade to the latest version of iOS on all compatible devices on the day its released, the adoption rate is naturally higher than on Android -- where carriers generally decide when or if a given device will receive updates on a model-by-model basis, and have a natural incentive to limit the upgradability of a device. Even so, reports that iOS 6.1 -- released on Monday -- is already installed on more than 22 percent of all compatible iOS devices represents the fastest uptake of a system update ever." -- "MacNN" (www.macnn.com)
