NAS market to grow at CAGR of 14.7%

Research and Markets (www.researchandmarkets.com) says the global computer NAS market will grow at a at a CAGR [compound annual growth rate] of 14.7% through 2016.

One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is the rapid growth in digital content globally, according to the research group. The Global Consumer NAS market has also been witnessing the increasing adoption of video surveillance services for households. However, the lack of technical knowledge about NAS appliances among the end-users could pose a challenge to the growth of this market. Key vendors dominating this space include Apple, Buffalo Technology, Iomega and Western Digital.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Research and Market's Networking team said: One of the major trends being observed in the Global Consumer NAS market is the increasing adoption of video surveillance services by the end-users. With the growing adoption of home security services, the demand for video surveillance is increasing at a rapid pace. The storage of video files requires huge space and a faster medium for data transmission.

"NAS appliances allow access to the stored data from any location using a browser, which is a major advantage for the end-users. Further, since NAS appliances have an in-built feature of automatic data backup, there is an increasing reliability on these solutions in terms of data loss prevention."
