Kool Tools: X8 versions of Intego Internet security products

Intego's recently introduced VirusBarrier X8 and NetBarrier X8 are solid new versions of its security and protection software for Mac OS X 10.7 or higher.

Alongside an all-new user interface, VirusBarrier X8 has a new low-priority scanning mode for enhanced performance. It offers 24/7 protection with automatic scans.

Virus Barrier X8 scans files whenever they’re accessed and automatically checks for the latest updates to make sure you’re protected against the newest threats. It not only protects you from existing Mac threats, it detects all known PC-based malware so you don’t spread infected files to friends, family, or work colleagues.

Intego Virus Barrier X8 has been completely redesigned to ensure that Mac owners of all abilities can set it up and configure it to provide immediate protection. It also scans iOS devices whenever they’re plugged into your computer to make sure that no infected files that you received via email will pass onto your Mac/

NetBarrier X8 has enhanced rule functionality for easier configuration and new firewall/application monitoring options. The tool provides location-aware network protection from unknown devices and apps that try to access your files. Whether you’re at work, meeting clients, or traveling to trade shows and conferences, Intego Net Barrier X8 will switch to the appropriate setting for the best level of protection.

To the bad guys, your Mac is just an IP address and open ports. Intego NetBarrier blocks unsolicited visitors in their tracks, keeping the bad guys out of your Mac. It's easy to set up, and can be customized to your needs.

The software actively monitors applications using your network. Whenever a connection is opened, it asks if you want to allow it. If you recognize the application, NetBarrier will let it run. If not, it’ll block it. If something is using too much bandwidth for your liking, you’ll be able to identify it and shut it down.

What's more, ntego Net Barrier X8 makes changes to your firewall simple and, better yet, understandable. Want to temporarily allow connections from the Internet or allow remote desktop? No problem.

Don’t want third parties collecting information about you and your business while you use an application? Intego Net Barrier X8 lets you block applications from communicating with specific Internet domains while keeping the functionality you want.

Customers can choose from a range of bundles. Intego’s X8 bundles are available for purchase at www.intego.com . Current users of Intego’s Mac Internet Security can easily upgrade to the X8 product line for free by visiting www.intego.com.

For new customers, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is US$49.99 for Mac Internet Security, $89.99 for Mac Premium Bundle, $64.99 for Mac Washing Machine Secure X8 and $79.99 for Family Protector Bundle. Customers can also get limited free trials of each product at http://www.intego.com/Intego-free-trial.
