The Transcend StoreJet range of portable hard drives available from US memory supplier Data Memory Systems (www.datamemorysystems.com) is helping Mac users boost their devices capabilities with external storage space and high transfer rates.

With two models available, the SJM300 (a traditional portable hard drive) and the SJM500 (a portable solid-state drive, or SSD), Mac users can now supercharge their laptops or desktops with the addition of one of these devices.

The SJM300 offers 2TB of storage space, while the SSD version can have capacities ranging from 256GB to 1TB. Both devices are fully equipped with Thunderbolt and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interfaces and sport a metallic design. Prices start at US$209 for the SJM300 model.

The Thunderbolt technology integrated within both devices means that both the SJM300 and the SJM500 can transmit and receive data at the same time. Interface transfer rates can hit 10 GB/second, and Thunderbolt ports can daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt devices. The two models are also equipped with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, which provide 10 times the bandwidth of USB 2.0.

A Quick Start Guide is included as standard with the drives, along with a three-year warranty and a handy travel pouch to store the drives while traveling. The kit also comes with Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 cables, so files can be transferred right out of the box.
