Apple Introduces watchOS 2, New Watches and Bands

Today, Apple announced new customization options for the Apple Watch to complement the arrival of watchOS 2 as a free update on September 16th.

Apple says “watchOS 2 makes apps faster and more fluid by running natively on Apple Watch, and introduces new watch faces, the ability for third-party apps to display information on the watch face as complications, and an innovative way to see future events, past headlines and more with Time Travel. watchOS 2 also includes new communication features such as the ability to respond quickly to Mail with dictation, Smart Replies or emoji, and Digital Touch enables more creativity with multiple sketch colors.”

Starting today, Apple Watch Sport is now available in gold and rose gold. Additionally, Apple introduced a variety of new Watch band colors and combinations, including new turquoise and vintage rose fluoroelastomer Sport bands and a two-toned Classic Buckle. Partnering with Hermès, Apple announced the Apple Watch Hermès collection of stainless steel Apple Watch with finely crafted leather Hermès band. The collection includes the Single Tour, Double Tour, and Cuff bands. They will be available at select stores on October 5th, and start at $1,100 USD.

Apple announced a new (PRODUCT)RED version of the Apple Watch and will donate a portion of its proceeds to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS.

watchOS 2 and iOS 9 will be available as free downloads on September 16, bringing third-party complications on watch faces, native Watch apps, Time Travel to see past and future events, and more. iOS 9 is required for some new watchOS 2 features.
