DouWere’s Hue Dada ! 1.0 is an app designed to enhance the user experience with the Mac OS X finder. You can drag and drop any Finder item onto the Hue Dada icon in the color bar to colorize it, according to its tag.

From huge folder icons on the Desktop, to small icons previews in popup menus, the tag color is there when using this utility. The app automatically gives custom icons to items as a user would manually — through the Information pane and a graphical editor. According to the folks at DouWere, Hue Dada! respects the Apple policies regarding sandboxed applications, only using documented and safe methods.

Algorithmically efficient, the app bans any unnecessary polling operation, relying only on Grand Central Dispatch trigger. Hue Dada! transfers its heavy operations on background threads to keep the user experience fluid.

The app respects the original design of color distribution for “standard” icons, just adapting the color hue. Documents with previews are processed differently: images are monochromised, and text is just colorized (always according to the tag color).

Hue Dada! requires Mac OS X 10.10 or higher. It costs $0.99 and is available at the Mac App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1049662769).
