CBS Radio, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Cox, Entercom and Greater Media said that they are in the process of installing iTunes Tagging technology. As a result, consumers who wish to hear a song on their local HD Radio stations -- and want to preview, buy and download it later on iTunes -- will soon be able to do that with just the touch of a button on an enabled HD Radio receiver, notes [url=http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2191672,00.asp]PC Magazine.
“iTunes tagging takes music discovery on the radio to the next level,†says Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod Product Marketing. “When a song plays on your HD Radio that you like, a simple push of a button will tag it and later give you the chance to preview, purchase, and enjoy it with iTunes and your iPod.â€
The broadcasted music will include a tiny bit of code that, when triggered by the receiver, will store the song's information for later purchase. The new Polk I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 will support the new technology, which was shown off at the Digital Life show last week, adds PC Magazine. Both will be sold during the holiday season.
