CES: Samsung previews flash-based 1080p HD camcorder

The camcorder also offers HDMI input and component connectivity for viewing home movies directly on an HDTV. Users can connect the SC-HMX20C to their computer via a USB connection. The multifunctional HD camcorder also delivers still camera functionality of up to 8 megapixels size through "pixel-rising" technology.

The SC-HMX20C offers consumers the ability to record in full 1920 x 1080p HD quality, says Reid Sullivan, vice president of Digital Audio & Video Marketing at Samsung. And because this camcorder records onto flash memory, it offers "quick start-up, great battery life and one of the smallest bodies in the industry," he adds.

The SC-HMX20C will be available in May. Pricing hasn't been announced.
