EA announces The Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack

The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts says The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion pack is in development and will launch in June. It's the second expansion pack to The Sims 3.

Here's how the expansion pack is described: "The Sims 3 Ambitions allows players to pursue a variety of exciting paths and careers in their Sims’ lives that in turn affect their overall gameplay experience and neighborhood. While on the job, the player has direct control over their Sims’ work and can choose how to spend their days. Players can opt to make house calls and save lives as a doctor or choose the devious route and test experimental medicine on patients, be the hero firefighter tackling raging infernos or smashing everything in sight at the victim’s home with an axe, or take a shot at solving cases as an investigator, nicely convincing sources to divulge secrets or roughing up perpetrators in a dark alley to get information."

The Sims 3 Ambitions will also be available for feature phones, iPhone and iPod touch in late 2010 from EA Mobile. These versions will have customized mobile gameplay features which will be revealed in the coming months and won't require a base game to play. For information on carrier availability and pricing for all EA Mobile games, go here: http://www.eamobile.com .

The Sims 3 Ambitions hasn't yet been rated by the ESRB. Pricing will be announced when it ships.

The Sims 3 is rated "T" for Teen. It ships on a hybrid DVD-ROM, containing both Mac and Windows versions of the games, for US$49.99. Mac system requirements for The Sims 3 call for an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later, 2GB RAM, ATI X1600, Nvidia 7300 GT or GMA X3100 or better 3D graphics, at least 6.1GB of hard disk space. The game won't run on PowerPC-based Macs or Macs equipped with Intel GMA 950 graphics.

There's also an US$9.99 version for the iPhone and iPod touch. It's available at the Apple App Store (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).
