Fake iPhone can help maintain the cool techie image

It's designed for kids or for those who need an iPhone for display purposes. This dummy display phone has the exact dimension and cosmetics as a real iPhone. However, it doesn't contain any electronic parts. The screen is black just like a real iPhone when it's turned off.

When I first heard of this, I thought it was a silly product. But upon further consideration, I can see the benefits. For instance, the AT&T service is pretty miserable in my neck of the woods, so I haven't sprung for an iPhone yet.

But as the editor of Macsimum News, many folks just can't believe I don't have one of the communications devices. Now I can buy an iPhone Dummy Display Phone and pretend to be making calls on it in public to uphold my image. I'll just have to be sure not to let anyone borrow the phone. And I'll have to keep my real cell phone on vibrate. If it started ringing while I was "talking" on my iPhone, well, that would be pretty embarrassing.

Of course, I could get an iPod touch and pretend it was an iPhone. But I'm pretty happy with my iPod classic. And at only 40 bucks, the iPhone Dummy Display Phone is a fairly inexpensive way to uphold my cool tech guy image.
