It's not good (or meant for) commercial or state-of-the-art video (in other words, Scorsese won't be using it on any upcoming projects) but for shooting, editing, organizing, and seamless video uploading to AOL, YouTube and other video sharing sites. As Vasher notes, its purpose is "to shoot all the video you would have never shot but wanted to because you didn't have your camcorder with you or it would have been too much of a hassle to get out your camcorder and set it up for shooting." Which means it's a natural companion for iMovie '08.
As nice as the Flip is, Apple could certainly improve upon it. Doing so wouldn't involve re-inventing the wheel. Put a camera and microphone in the iPod touch. If not the standard iPod touch, then a high-end version. Heck, while we're at it, why not throw in some decent still photography features as well.
A product that combines the best features of the iPod touch and the Flip? I'm there.
