Freshly Squeezed Reviews: Simple pleasures are the best

"Everyone has a product idea. Chances are, you do, too. Our 23-year-old entrepreneur-in-chief, Ben, has launched two successful companies based on this premise, with write-ups in Reader's Digest, Businessweek, Entrepreneur, and other mainstream media - including more than one primetime appearance on CNBC."

Today we're going to review one of Quirky's offspring -- the US$14.99 PowerCurl.

"Designed by the quirky community and apple enthusiasts worldwide in 24 hours, the quirky PowerCurl is a clip on cord wrap for Apple’s 45W, 60W and 85W MagSafe Power Adapter. PowerCurl wraps both cords (plug end & MagSafe end) around the device and allows for easy and quick cord wrapping. The Curl, as we like to call it, makes it easy to unplug and pack up quickly without having to untangle your extension cords the next time you need to set up shop."

Very interesting concept for a business. Does it make for quality products?

The Juice

A simple piece of rubber and a simple clip, the PowerCurl is a design of pure function. It's actually quite graceful in it's simplicity. No unnecessary bells or whistle. While stylish, this was designed with pragmatism in mind.

The center of the PowerCurl is where you pop in your adaptor. It keeps it elevated, which allows for good ventilation. There are two areas separated by a divider to wrap around your two cords - your power cord and your MagSafe cord.

When you're ready to pack up and go, just unplug, wrap up your cords easily and neatly, and be on your way. No fuss,no muss.

The Pulp

It really brings a smile to your face when something is designed purely for a specific task, and no bells and whistles have been added to merely jack up the price. The PowerCurl promises to do one thing only and it does it superbly.

The Rind

Nada.

Summary

The concept of having users be their own R & D departments is brilliant. And it's proven in PowerCurl. The solution to a problem, designed by the people who face that problem daily, the people who would know best.

Simple pleasures ARE the best!
