Freshly Squeezed Reviews: Go for a Swim

"Skin. It's what holds your insides in." - Allan Sherman

As always, the English vocabulary takes words and either morphs them into new meanings or adds another definition to the word. Like skin. He escaped by the skin of his teeth. After the hunt, he skinned the kill (with apologies to PETA). And the ancient "slap me some skin."

In the tech age, skin has come to describe a cover that you place on any electronic device to make a statement or display your personality (or give you one).

MusicSkins (http://www.music-skins.com) Is one of the premier tech device skin manufacturers today. They're constantly negotiating deals to bring more popular icons and brands to market. They're latest collection is several offerings from [Adult Swim] on Cartoon Network

The Juice

MusicSkins also carries skins for models, fashion, art, charity, Obama, media and customIzable skins for companies. They help to protect your devices from scratches and scuffs.

They're easy to apply, fully removable and leave no residue.  So, you could buy several skins and adhere the one that matches your mood for the day.

The latest skins are from [Adult Swim} and include: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Freaknik, Metalocalypse, Robot Chicken, The Drinky Crow Show and Venture Bros.

The Pulp

Here are the devices that MusicSkins currently covers: iPod Video (5th Gen) for 30GB, 60GB, & 80GB; iPod Touch for 8GB & 16GB; iPod Classic for 80GB & 160GB; iPod Nano (3rd Gen) for 4GB & 8GB; iPod Nano (2nd Gen) for 2GB, 4GB, & 8GB; iPod Nano (1st Gen) for 1GB, 2GB, & 4GB; Zune 80GB, 30GB, 8GB & 4GB; Sansa View 16GB & 8GB; iPhone & iPhone 3G; RAZR V3, V3c, V3m; Blackberry 8800, 8820,8830, Curve, Pearl, Bold, Storm; T-Mobile G1; SideKick LC, 3, 2; Sony PSP, PSP Slim; Nintendo DS Lite; Apple MBP & PowerBook 17" & 15"; Apple  iBook 14"; Apple 13" MacBook and MBP; Apple 12" PowerBook & iBook; and various Guitar Hero guitars.

The Rind

Some of the skins are constructed of thicker material than others. For example, my John Lennon/NYC skin looks wonderful on my laptop. But when I turn my MBP on, the Apple logo shines through the skin. And even though it's a nice piece of irony in this particular case, it would be nice if it didn't show through. Other skins don't suffer from this as they're made from denser material.

Summary

MusicSkins is a quality product that richly fills a niche in the skin arena. I could see owning several of these and changing them upon your mood.

My daughter will be the lucky recipient of this Robot Chicken skin I used for review. She was hoping for Futurama, but that's another icon for MusicSkins™ to obtain the rights for. Me? I'm holding out for Brak or Space Ghost.

Terra Noctis: Free Dreaming Promises Ple...
When I first played Terra Noctis, I came away with an incredibly positive opinion. Sure it had its share of problems. In fact, it had a ton of small ones. However it was still a cool platformer that was well worth the somewhat hefty (comparably) price of $2.99 at the time. The cost has dropped down to $0.99 since then, but even that might be “too... | Read more »
