Freshly Squeezed Reviews: Step right up!

"Step right up and try your skill at your favorite Boardwalk attractions! Boardwalk Games! -- available for US$1.99 at the Apple App Store -- includes three of your favorite carnival games on a scrollable nighttime boardwalk so you feel like you're right there. You can even win prizes at each attraction and store them in your own personal Prize Booth!"
They've sunk their hooks into me with the likes of Arcade Hoops , Skyscraper and some of their other wares. Sort of like crack for the iPhone. Will I become addicted again?

The Juice

As the name implies, Boardwalk Games! is a collection of games that are staples of the Boardwalk nightlife. There's Spill Da Milk, Tiki Toss and Balloon Safari.

Spill Da Milk is probably the granddaddy of the three games. This is the game where you throw balls to knock over the stacked milk bottles made of metal. (BTW, what does metal do to the taste of the milk?)

Tiki Toss is another standard. This is where once again you throw a ball, only this time to knock over as many Tiki dolls as you can.

Balloon Safari is grandmother to grandfather, Spill Da Milk. Here you toss darts at air-filled balloons and try to burst them in order to gain points.

And, of course, each game comes with its own set of instructions.

The Pulp

All three games share the same basic selections as many of their other Skyworks' brethren. In this case, you can choose from two modes of play: Quick Play, in which you have 45 seconds to score or Progressive Play, in which you begin with 45 seconds but graduate to different levels based on your performance.

Instead of a limited number of projectiles, you play against the clock. You can keep high scores on your iPod alone, or embarrass yourself and place them in the global listing (I have no idea how people reach some of the scores that they post!). You also follow carnival tradition by picking a prize from the top, middle or bottom shelf based on the number of points that you scored in each round.

You also have a Prize Booth with shelves that hold all of the stuffed animals that you have won from each game. (I wish the top shelf had a Lexus or a MacPro. Maybe in future versions.)

As always you can set the volumes for the effects and the music. And as a nice little touch, you can saunter down the Boardwalk from booth to booth by dragging your finger across the screen.

The Rind

They hooked me again.

Summary

Skyworks has become one of the developers at the App Store who's product will always be top notch. Their always basic games, but as I said, they're always addictive. At a buck and ninety-nine cents, it's a steal.
