Like its original counterpart, Cherple 1.5 will connect any computer with Internet access worldwide to any U.S. mobile phone via back-and-forth SMS text messaging. Exclusive to the new version is a history list that recalls the last five used mobile phone numbers and enhanced support for proxies and firewalls.
Cherple is SMS that acts like Instant Messaging but it relies solely upon SMS not an IM application. It "will continue to allow people to connect and communicate in a way that's cost effective, easy-to-use, completely private and permission-based," according to Robert Sanchez, president and CEO of Globaltel Media.
Cherple offers the ability to send a text message from any on-line computer to any U.S. cell phone and back without the need for a special wireless data plan, smart phone or registration. Standard text messaging rates apply to the U.S. cell phone receiving and replying to any Cherple message and there is no cost to the on-line user who initiates and maintains the conversation. A version of Cherple is also available for white-label licensing for enterprises and businesses.
