I'm among those disappointed by yesterdays' announcements
I wasn't expecting an iPad/iTable to be announced. And I was dubious that the Beatles' catalog would be coming to iTunes just yet. So the lack of these announcements didn't disappoint me. Although it either had happened, I would have been tickled pink.
On the bright side, I was glad to see CEO Steve Jobs back hosting a media event. I was glad that the iPod classic is still among the living, despite some pundits' predictions otherwise. iTunes 9 seems very cool. And as for the iPod shuffle price cuts and tweaks, I could care less. I know the shuffle has its fans, but I'm not one of them.
My main disappointment is that the iPod touch update didn't include a video camera/still camera feature. The iPhone 3GS does, and the new iPod nano sports video capture. So I'm unsure why this feature was left off the new iPod touch -- which I will be purchasing in lieu of an iPhone. Heck, the nano also has a built-in FM radio tuner with iTunes Tagging and Live Pause. I would have loved to have had those features on my touch, as well.
