Pointy Heads Software has launched Knocking Live Video, which it says is the world’s first broadcast app for the iPhone. Knocking apps eliminate the "upload, send, download" process, establishing live, device-to-device connectivity regardless of proximity or other barriers. Knocking Live Video creates an instant, device-to-device connection allowing one iPhone user to broadcast live streaming video to another iPhone handset. It's available for download in the social networking category of the Apple App Store and is free for the first 50,000 users.
Handmark, a creator and distributor of mobile applications and services, and The Noel Group, a pioneer in travel insurance, concierge and personal assistance services, have announced the availability of its MyAssist App on the Apple App Store. The free app is a personal assistance service for iPhone and iPod touch users, providing them unlimited, 24/7 access to a live team of US-based assistants for less than US$10 a month.
Land Ho has released iWindow New York, which turns your iPhone into a virtual webcam simulator and enjoy a scenic view of New York. It's the second in a series of iPhone-based virtual webcam simulators. It reflects the actual time and weather in New York and displays it on the iPhone. The lite version of iWindow New York is free.
Chronos has released NoteLife 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The $4.99 app is a note manager for iPhone devices. Features include sub-folders, a Cover Flow-like view, and support for 10 different note types.
Hunter Research and Technology have announced Theodolite 1.0, a $0.99, multi-function augmented reality app for iPhone devices. Theodolite serves as a compass, GPS, map, zoom camera, and two-axis inclinometer. It overlays real-time information about position, altitude, bearing, and horizontal/vertical inclination on the iPhone's live camera image, turning the iPhone into a location-aware viewfinder.
Fluent Mobile, a mobile content organization and delivery company, has debuted premium features available via in-app-purchase for Fluent News. The new premium features enable news readers to create their own personalized mobile newspaper by filtering out unwanted news sources and “promoting†their favorites to greater prominence. Additionally, they can create unlimited custom news sections on any topic, and eliminate banner ads in section lists. The new version of Fluent News is available free of charge for iPhone and iPod touch users.
George Burgess has released GeoRev 1.0, a Geography GCSE revision application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. GeoRev, is designed to help students revise for their Geography GCSE exam and consists of 600 multiple-choice questions. These questions are separated into 15 topic areas with both foundation and higher tier options. The topic areas aim to incorporate the majority of material required by major exam boards. GeoRev is available for just £0.59 until January.
Smartphones Technologies has launched Slidz Playlist Pro, a full-featured upgrade to Slidz Playlist Lite, a free slideshow application launched in the Apple App Store in September. Slidz Playlist Pro lets you add swirling visualizations or customized picture shows to your music playlists. Alternatively, users can use the application to create a "brag book" style slideshow of photos -- of their children, friends, pets or even special events like parties, vacations and weddings -- choreographed to music in their own specially-made playlists.
eBuddy, an independent web and mobile instant messaging (IM) service, has announced the global launch of eBuddy Pro for iPhone and iPod touch user. It's the company's new premium, advertisement-free, multi-network mobile instant messaging application. Pictional has released TrueHDR 1.0.1, an update of the $1.99 iPhone photography app for creating high dynamic range images. TrueHDR combines two photos taken at different exposures and presents a higher dynamic range than a single photo can capture. Users can take two photos on an iPhone 3GS with the in-app autofocus camera, or select saved images, and merge them into an HDR image.
Stone Design today released new versions of its iPhone Twitter client Twittelator Pro and re-released Twittelator Free. Featuring twitter lists, geotagging of tweets, and official autoretweeting. In-app purchase lets you unlock all the Pro features in the free version, but you get to try the real deal with hundreds of features. Twittelator Pro runs on all models of the iPhone and iPod touch.
KApps has released Secret Swap 1.01, an update of the free secret swapping app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Secret Swap provides "a entertaining, hilarious, and sometimes downright frightening look into people's deepest, darkest secrets."
