It's portable, sturdy, affordable (US$29.95) and fairly effective in protecting my lap from heat. Just as importantly, it lets me use a large laptop plus a mouse comfortable in bed -- my preferred way of working while on the road.
At 1.5 pounds, the LapWorks Laptop Desk 2.0 isn't light, but it's solid and versatile. As a lap desk, it measures more than 21 inches long, with room for (as mentioned) a large laptop (even a 17-inch MacBook Pro) and an external mouse. However, it folds in half to 10.5 inches long and 11 inches wide, so it'll fit in most laptop bags. On a desk the Laptop Desk 2.0 folds into a five-position wedge, which inclines the keyboard for more ergonomic typing.
The Laptop Desk 2.0 is made of thick plastic and has a surface of rubberized material lined with grooves. The design allows the lap desk to "grip" your laptop and help cool it via air flow through the grooves.
I really like the portability factor. I wish there was some way to have a cushion on the underside, but then that would probably hamper the Laptop Desk 2.0's portability. And the portability factor is one of the product's strong points. If you're a regular laptop/notebook user, you'll appreciate the simplicity and efficiency of the Laptop Desk 2.0
Macsimum rating: 9 out of 10.
