



Microsoft had 90.66 percent market share, Linux 0.93 percent, the iPhone 0.30 percent (up from 0.19 percent in July), the PlayStation 0.04 percent and SunOS 0.01 percent.
In July Windows had 91.02 percent of total market share. Others on the list were: Linux, 0.82 percent; PlayStation, 0.04 percent; and the Nintendo Wii, 0.01 percent.
When it comes to browsers, in August, Safari had 6.37 percent, up from 6.31 percent in July and 6.14 percent in June. Microsoft's Internet Explorer had 72.15 percent (down from 73.02 percent in July), Firefox had 19.73 percent (up from 19.22 in July).
Net Applications' monthly surveys don't measure market share in terms of computer systems sold. Instead they sample data from visitors to some 40,000 web sites operated by their clients.
