While Samsung is now in talks with Microsoft to improve performance of SSD's on Windows Vista, the article reports that Sun has already been working with Sun on improving performance of SSD's with the ZFS (Zettabyte File System). That means that any improvements that Sun includes in ZFS will automatically be included in the upcoming Mac OS X Snow Leopard update.
But because Sun's efforts are server focused, there is a question, in my mind, about whether or not the improvements will be available for the server and client versions or just the server version. Either way, it seems that it would be a good idea to watch ZFS development rather closely.
