MacOSG: Fans 'buzzing' on new MacBook Pros (Late 2008) (demo)

cornelius1 writes, "I have the same issue on the MacBook Pro I received last week. It happens more than half the time with varying loudness levels. It's independent from CPU/harddisk use. I recorded the noise and the normal sound: Compare this weird fan noise with the nomal fan sound, both recorded with the laptop at idle."

Noisy fans.

Quiet fans.

Devin McGinty writes, "A lot of people are having this exact issue. Mine was doing this as well. I took it in for "repair" and Apple told me that because the product is so new, they don't have replacement fans in yet. So, they are sending me a new machine."

If your new MacBook Pro is noisy, you may want to check with Apple first to see if they have fans in stock before you send it in or leave it at a store for repair.
