What's strange, is it was only happening him and not his wife. Come to find out, he was wearing a bracelet with small magnets in it (supposed to help with arthritis). He removed the braclet and it solved the problem.
Another owner was having similar problems. Ksenia S. writes, "I seem to be having this problem as well. It's not as frequent as metnioned before, but it's like every few minutes my computer just falls asleep, even if I'm using it. When it "wakes up" again, Airport needs to reconnect and it's quite strange. It also does that even if my computer is plugged in."
Later she writes, "I was wearing a bracelet with magnets on it as well. I was thinking about it, but I didn't know it would actually cause problems. It's fine now. Cool beans!"
"It appears that the MacBook Air may not be very well shielded (possibly to save weight/bulk)," the owner commented.
Mac Owners Support Group -- aka MacOSG -- was conceived by Dave Merten, the former 'Focus on Mac Support' guide at About.com. Since it's humble beginning as 'G5 Owners Support Group' back in February 2004, MacOSG has become one of the world's fastest-growing online Apple User Groups, dedicated to helping Mac users from all over the globe.
