"I am sure there is much more that can be said in support of your position. What about the lousy customer service ratings for Dell compared to Apple? I have driven Porsches since '59 and they are currently ranked #1 in initial customer acceptance. Would it make sense to turn over producing Porsches to Ford? Also, I read a recent article out there in the last few days about market share pointing out that Apple goes for a certain set of customers who are very likely quite different than Dell customers. This is the auto comparison once again; BMW and Porsche do not design and price for rental car group sales. I am inclined toward these auto comparison since Porsche is also currently also #1 in profitability among car manufacturers while those who go for the rental car market are going under (Ford posted a US$5.8 billion third quarter loss on Monday)."
Also, one final thought: now that Dell is coming out with its first servers running Advanced Micro Devices' Opteron processors, will Apple -- as its market share grows -- have similar motivation to have AMD processors? Or, will Apple become Intel's new darling and get better deals than all other makers?
