TiVo, El gato and others can breath easy. Apple has no plans to add video recording functionality to the Mac mini, according to a USA Today article.
Adding video recording functionality would have made the Mac Mini too complicated, says Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing. "We're not trying to replace the TiVo," he adds. "This is about taking the media from your computer and accessing it via the TV."
To run media from other computers using the Mac mini, those computers must store music, videos and TV shows in Apple's iTunes software. If PC users listen to music in, say, Musicmatch or RealPlayer, the Mac Mini won't be able to find the songs, USA Today notes.
