Even with an extra-large notebook inside, the Excel offers a surprising amount of spare room for electronic accessories, even a change of clothes. It's made of nylon and features a padded harness with snap buckles to distribute the extra weight evenly and close to your body. Even when crammed to the brim with electronic gadgets, it's comfortable enough for long-term use. I recently used it with my 15-inch MacBook Pro on a camping trip (my buddies and I wanted to view videos of our just-completed softball season).
The Excel sports a padded computer nest with document store, a zippered central compartment, mesh stash slot, and sunglasses and media player caches. This isn't a backpack I'd recommend for MacBooks or for casual use -- say, carrying a laptop to and from class. But if you're packing a larger laptop in fairly strenuous environments (and a packed subway car would certainly qualify), the Everki case is roomy, comfortable and tough.
