Alan Deutschman has published a review in the San Francisco Chronicle of Jeffrey S. Young and William L. Simon’s new unauthorized biography of Apple CEO Steve Jobs — iCon. “From all the prepublication controversy, you might assume that Jeffrey S. Young and William L. Simon’s ‘iCon,’ an unauthorized biography of Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, has some really damning revelations,” notes Deutschman. “After publisher John Wiley & Sons released the advance page proofs, Jobs retaliated by removing all copies of other Wiley books from Apple’s chain of retail stores. The move, while inflicting minor collateral damage on the innocent authors of self-help titles such as ‘Macs for Dummies,’ generated invaluable buzz for the new bio.”
