



The 2.6 Beta version also includes a new Call Transfer feature that's initially exclusive to the Mac platform, with other platforms to follow. You can now transfer ongoing Skype calls to other friends and family on your Skype contact list.
The update also adds some features for Mac users that were previously only available on Windows. You can now join public chats. A chat typing indicator lets you see when others are writing a message. With Skype for Mac 2.6 Beta, you can call any Skype Prime premium services provider and pay with Skype credit. A new Automatic Updates component get new features and updates without having to go to Skype's web site to download 'em. And there are now DTMF tones for automatic answering services available also during Skype-to-Skype calls.
To use Skype for Mac 2.6 Beta, you need Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and a broadband Internet connection. Skype is a free Universal Binary telephonic app (which means it runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs) enables voice calling via the Internet. It sports conference calling for up to five participants, cross-platform communications, presence and personalization features. There’s also Skype’s Global Directory, a user-built global Skype contacts directory with a variety of search options and an add-a-contact tool. Other features include: cross platform instant messaging; the ability to reference or discard call and message history; the capacity to manage availability and view status of contacts; a variety of customization options; the ability to send and receive files via Skype; Multiple Skype accounts on one computer; and end-to-end encryption for privacy.
