Smith Micro Software has announced Photo A.K.A. (http://store.smithmicro.com/productdetails.aspx?id=13019) , a free image management tool for Mac OS X (10.4.2 or higher) that allows photo enthusiasts to simultaneously rename groups of photos being transferred from digital cameras. Photo A.K.A also simplifies the process of archiving photos and sharing them through Flickr or Picasa web services.

“Photos being transferred from your camera to your computer automatically receive cryptic file names that make them impossible to search intuitively,” says Pauline Shumake, senior product Manager of Productivity and Graphic s at Smith Micro Software. “Photo A.K.A. lets users rename groups of photos with logical, searchable names that reflect the content of the photos or a preferred naming convention, thereby saving users valuable time and energy by eliminating the hassle of searching for photos from months or even years ago.”

Photo A.K.A. also allows for the transfer of images to a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk and the ability to create StuffIt archives. Users can resize images for emailing, printing or slideshows.
