UK: Woolworths backs Blu-ray over HD DVD

At that time Woolworths stores will have a Blu-Ray DVD chart in all 820 stores and a Blu-Ray DVD back catalogue section in larger stores. Since launching high definition DVDs in October last year, Woolworths has become the biggest retailer of the new DVD format in the UK, says the RetailBulletin.

Earlier this month the NPD research group [url=http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/npd_data_blu_ray_trouncing_hd_dvd]reported that[/url], during the week of Jan. 5 to 12, Blu-ray nabbed 92.53 percent of the high-def disc-player market. What’s more, those numbers don’t include the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on drive -- only standalone players.
