Excel Software (www.excelsoftware.com) has shipped QuickLicense 8.0, an update of the tool for protection and licensing of Mac, Windows and Linux software. The new release adds major enhancements for spreadsheet protection, application usage statistics, end-user interface enhancements and improved developer tools.

QuickLicense is used to define the type of license (Trial, Product, Try/Buy, Subscription or Floating), the licensing features (feature flags, pre-activation message, license release, restore, reset and suspend) and the activation process (manual, online, dongle or floating license server). Tension Software announces Private Contact 3.3 for OS X

Tension Software has announced Private Contact 3.3 for OS X. It’s an update of the app for managing an always-encrypted address books.

An Autolock feature has been added. Version 3.3 also offers better startup behavior (if no documents where left opened when you previously quit the app), better management of the toolbar at startup, and various bug fix and improvements.

BrowserHub for OS X gets a new name (BrowserFreedom) and a new...

Guilherme Rambo has introduced BrowserFreedom 1.1.2 for OS X. Due to trademark issues, the app is now rechristened from BrowserHub to BrowserFreedom.

The tool is designed to solve the problem of managing multiple web browsers on OS X. Along with the new name change, version 1.1 introduces bug fixes and a new feature called "URL expander,” which allows the user to copy the original URL from a shortened link.

URL Extractor for Mac OS X revved to version 4.5

Tension Software has revved URL Extractor, its tool for extracting emails and other URL from the web and from local files, to version 4.5.

The tool can be used extract thousands of email addresses or other URLs, as example web addresses, in various modes. Maintain serves up up Cocktail 9.2.4 (El Capitan Edition)

Maintain has served up Cocktail 9.2.4 (El Capitan Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running OS X El Capitan.

Cocktail is a general purpose utility for OS X that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. The new version contains improvements on the "Clear applications caches" procedure and fixes compatibility issues with 1Password. It also adds compatibility with the latest versions of supported web browsers and resolves a number of other issues discovered in the previous release. Cocktail updates are now distributed over HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) for extra security.

XCOM 2 out now on the Mac App Store

Ogg unleashed on the Mac

Flexible Tales has debuted Ogg, a physics-based puzzle game for OS X. Players move and flip caveman clubs to alter the path of Ogg's wheel, rock, vegetable, fruit, and others so it reaches the bottom of the screen.

The puzzles take place over a wide range of illustrated environments. Ogg offers 150 levels with 15 worlds. It has a built-in hint system, complete with solutions.

MacStadium acquires Macminicolo

MacStadium, a Mac hosting provider, has received a multi-million dollar line of credit from Silicon Valley Bank, and will acquire Macminicolo , the oldest vendor in the commercial Mac hosting industry.

CEO Greg McGraw says MacStadium's Mac hosting solution is used by more than 1,500 SMB and enterprise businesses worldwide with uses like CI/CD testing and iOS app development. Software developers requiring dedicated Mac hardware rely on MacStadium to provide remote access to thousands of Mac servers in a self-service manner to develop, test, and deploy solutions.

With the acquisition of Macminicolo, MacStadium is able to reach a greater audience on the west coast, supplementing a recent expansion into Dublin, Ireland in Europe.
