Alex4D Animation Transitions is new plug-in pack for Final Cut...

Alex Gollner has introduced Alex4D Animation Transitions (, a plug-in pack for Apple's Final Cut Pro X video editing software. Editors can use it to instantly animate video clips, graphics, pictures and text. Alex4D Animation Transitions allows users to use animation to add character to logos, titles and other story elements in the Final Cut Pro X timeline.

Each of the 120 Alex4D Animation Transitions adds animation to still images, on-screen text and video elements. Clips can be made to fly, bounce, skid, grow, shrink and flip onto the screen — on their own, or overlaid on top of other elements. CalDigit releases new USB-C docks, accessories

CalDigit ( revealed two new USB Type-C docks at Inter BEE 2015 in Japan. The first is the CalDigit USB-C Dock, and the second is the CalDigit USB-C mini Dock.

Both of these products feature USB 3.1 as well as a host of additional ports to expand USB-C enabled computers such as the 12-inch MacBook.

CalDigit is also announcing two new USB-C adapters. The US$149 CalDigit USB-C Dock (pictured) not only adds extra ports but also simultaneously charges the MacBook. The $99 CalDigit USB-C mini Dock takes the features of the CalDigit USB-C Dock and packs them into a smaller form-factor. The main difference between the CalDigit USB-C Dock and CalDigit USB-C mini Dock is that the USB-C Dock connects to AC mains power, whereas the CalDigit mini Dock draws its power from the computer.

Synology announces DiskStation DS716+ NAS server for growing...

Synology ( has released the DS716+, an encryption-oriented, scalable, two-bay NAS server powered by a quad-core CPU and Btrfs file system. DS716+ is aimed at SMB in need of a reliable, high-efficient storage and application server, according to Franklin Hua, product manager at Sinology.

It comes with 2GB of RAM, two Gigabit LAN ports, and a quad-core 1.6GHz CPU and can clock up to 2.08GHz and AES-NI encryption support. The DS716+ delivers transfer speed up to 218Mb/s reading and 141Mb/s writing. In addition, it allows enthusiast users to perform on the fly H.264 4K to 1080p video transcoding.

The DS716+ comes with tool-less drive bay design, hot-swappable support, and dual Gigabit LAN ports with failover support to ensure continual service. What’s more, it features three USB 3.0 ports for higher data transmission and one eSATA port as an extensive external backup option.

New fonts added to the Free Fonts-Christmas Collection

128bit Technologies has released Free Fonts - Christmas Collection 3.0, an update to their holiday collection of free fonts available on the Mac App Store. Ten new royalty free fonts have been added to the original collection, bringing the total number of Christmas fonts to 50.

Tension Software announces Precise Screenshot 1.4.1 for Mac OS X

Tension Software has announced Precise Screenshot 1.4.1 for Mac OS X. It’s an update of the tool for taking screenshots from your Mac screen.

Precise Screenshot can select a resizable portion of the screen with the usual drag method, it can use pre-fixed size area from a customizable popup menu (with the sizes the user needs), or it can use the full screen area. Version 1.4.1 is optimized for OS X El Capitan and fixes some bugs.

CS Odessa announces new ConceptDraw Pro solution

CS Odessa has announced The Seven Basic Tools of Quality for ConceptDraw Pro 10. It provides techniques focused on analyzing and improving issues of quality within a business setting.

CoreMelt gives FCP X users tracked masking tools for free

CoreMelt has announced its SliceX Free product for Final Cut Pro X. It lets you create instant Shape Masks to cut out layers or isolate effects directly in Final Cut Pro X without having to go into Motion or create the masks with an external program.

FCP X editors can now use a version limited to tracking oval and rectangle shapes in their projects freely with no purchase necessary. You can use SliceX Free to: blur a license plate or a log to hide it, or a persons face; color correct a tracked oval section (e.g. a face or other area of interest); remove unwanted objects from frame by cloning areas of the image; or track a glow to a person’s eyes.

IOSPIRIT introduces Remote Buddy Display for the Mac

VidConvert now ready for OS X El Capitan

FoldersSynchronization for Mac OS X revved to version 4.3

Softobe ( has unveiled FoldersSynchronizer 4.3, an update to their tool to sync and backup on OS X.

It lets you sync and backup files, folders, disks and boot disks. It grants several options like Timers, Multiple Folders, Filters, Exclude Items, Auto-Mount Volumes, AppleScripts, Conflicts Management, File Copy Preview, execute an incremental or an exact copy, include locked files, log files and more.

With FoldersSynchronizer 4.3, you can now properly register the product entering your Serial Number and Email. Once registered you don't longer need the RegistrationFile.txt used in the previous versions. It adds the "Swap Source and Destination folders" button to the Console panel. It works for Single BackUp tasks only.

Khronos releases OpenCL 2.1 and SPIR-V 1.0 spec

The Khronos Group, an open consortium of leading hardware and software companies, has announced the ratification and public release of the OpenCL 2.1 and SPIR-V 1.0 specifications for heterogeneous parallel computation.

Consumption of the new SPIR-V cross-API intermediate language is guaranteed in the core OpenCL 2.1 specification. Khronos has released open source utilities and extensions to enable use of SPIR-V in OpenCL 1.2 and 2.0, as well as the upcoming Vulkan graphics API, ensuring widespread availability of its powerful runtime capabilities for developers of parallel computation languages and frameworks.

Apple to power all of Singapore operations on renewable energy

Apple has struck a deal to power all of its Singapore operations with renewable energy, reports Reuters ( It will be the first company in the city to run exclusively on renewable energy.

Starting in January, solar energy developer Sunseap Group will provide Apple with 100 percent renewable electricity from its portfolio of solar energy systems built atop more than 800 buildings in Singapore. The Apple partnership will also give Sunseap financing to complete the solar project, Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives, told Reuters.

Output Factory for InDesign update improves batch export...

Zevrix Solutions has announced Output Factory 1.5.40, a maintenance update to its output automation solution for Adobe InDesign.

Output Factory lets users print and export multiple InDesign files with an array of time-saving options. The software offers batch processing, export as single pages, variable file names, layer versioning and more. The new version improves batch processing reliability in situations where large volume of InDesign files or layers are being exported to PDF and other formats.

DEVONagent 3.9.3 gets new scripts, updated for El Capitan

DEVONtechnologies has updated all editions of its Internet search and research tool, DEVONagent. Available in three editions, it’s a smart internet search agent.

DEVONagent queries search engines and crawls web sites. It then post-filters the results and presents the results in a multitude of ways. The new version adds new Safari scripts for DEVONagent Pro, plays videos fullscreen, and updates two plugins. The updates are free and recommended for all users.

HoudahSpot for Mac OS X lets upgrade and French localization

Houdah Software ( has announced HoudahSpot 4.1, an update to the file search utility for OS X.
