Tension Software announces Password Creator 1.3 for OS X

Tension Software has revved Password Creator, its password creation tool for Mac OS X, to version 1.3.

The app lets you create up to half million random unique passwords in a single click. Password Creator also lets you create a single password  or a long list of passwords (up to 500,000), inside an internal table. The list is ready to be saved on disk in plain text format for reuse. Version 1.3 offers a better way to define how many passwords you wish to create.

Adobe unveils ‘breakthroughs’ in video and film production

Ahead of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show next week, Adobe has revealed new features across its Creative Cloud tools for video editing, motion graphics, audio and collaboration. The CC tools are compatible with Mac OS X and Windows systems.

Media and entertainment companies are combining these advanced content creation capabilities with Adobe Primetime to help deliver TV and video content across screens. With Adobe’s digital marketing tools TV networks and pay-TV providers can drive viewer acquisition, engagement and monetization as audiences embrace “over the top” (OTT) content via connected devices such as the Apple TV, Sony PlayStation, Roku and Microsoft Xbox.

AutoCrypt for OS X upgraded to version 22

Tension Software has updated AutoCrypt, an encryption/decryption app with a document based approach, to version 2.2. It’s a maintenance upgrade

The software lets you save in a document all the settings used to encrypt or decrypt  collections of files using a powerful AES-256 algorithm. Using these documents, AutoCrypt can be used for encryption and decryption batch process of large quantity of files in a single click.

Wibu-Systems joins the Trusted Computing Group

Wibu-Systems (www.wibuusa.com) is joining the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and offering CodeMeter as a secure licensing platform for all TPM users to monetize their business. CodeMeter, an anti-piracy solution creates and stores licenses either in a hardware device (CmDongle) or in software bound to individual computers (CmAct).

Panamas introduces DirectFlow for the Mac

Panasas, which specializes in performance scale-out network-attached storage (NAS), has announced DirectFlow for Mac.

Previously only available for Linux, DirectFlow for Mac brings the performance benefits of parallel I/O over Ethernet to the Mac platform and OS X operating system. DirectFlow is the parallel data access protocol designed by Panasas and delivered as part of the integrated ActiveStor storage solution that incorporates the patented PanFS file system as well as NFS and SMB protocols. Currently deployed across a large variety of Linux-based computing environments, the DirectFlow protocol has proven success at delivering more than 10x the performance of workloads using traditional I/O protocols, according to David Sallak, vice president, products and solutions at Panasas.

USB Network Gate 4.0 provides full support for OS X 10.1

Eltima Software has announced USB Network Gate 4.0 (http://www.eltima.com/products/usb-over-network-mac/) for Mac OS X. The utility Network Gate lets you work with remote USB devices from your local computer over Internet/LAN/WAN as if those devices were plugged directly into your machine.

Version 4.0 adds support for OS X El Capitan. It also includes several stability and interface improvements.

USB Network Gate runs on Mac OS X 10.9 and later and costs $89.95 for sharing one USB device. It’s licensed according to the number of shared USB devices. SoftRAID 5.5 lets you convert AppleRAID volumes to SoftRAID

OWC Holdings has updated SoftRAID (www.softraid.com) for Mac OS X (10.6.8 and higher) to version 5.5. It’s a free update for all version 5.x users of SoftRAID.

SoftRAID is a disk driver for Mac OS X, and replaces the RAID functionality that was removed from Disk Utility in Mac OS X El Capitan. With version 5.5, users can convert their existing AppleRAID stripe (RAID 0) and mirror (RAID 1) volumes to SoftRAID and preserve all the files on those volumes. This provides a way for existing AppleRAID users to start using the features of SoftRAID.

For $49, users can purchase SoftRAID Lite and convert their AppleRAID volumes to SoftRAID. Not only will they be able to start using the highly optimized SoftRAID driver which has been shipping since 2003, but they can also take advantage of all of SoftRAID's disk health monitoring and logging features.

Tension Software announces Private Contact 3.3 for OS X

Tension Software has announced Private Contact 3.3 for OS X. It’s an update of the app for managing an always-encrypted address books.

An Autolock feature has been added. Version 3.3 also offers better startup behavior (if no documents where left opened when you previously quit the app), better management of the toolbar at startup, and various bug fix and improvements.

BrowserHub for OS X gets a new name (BrowserFreedom) and a new...

Guilherme Rambo has introduced BrowserFreedom 1.1.2 for OS X. Due to trademark issues, the app is now rechristened from BrowserHub to BrowserFreedom.

The tool is designed to solve the problem of managing multiple web browsers on OS X. Along with the new name change, version 1.1 introduces bug fixes and a new feature called "URL expander,” which allows the user to copy the original URL from a shortened link.

Maintain serves up up Cocktail 9.2.4 (El Capitan Edition)

Maintain has served up Cocktail 9.2.4 (El Capitan Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running OS X El Capitan.

Cocktail is a general purpose utility for OS X that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. The new version contains improvements on the "Clear applications caches" procedure and fixes compatibility issues with 1Password. It also adds compatibility with the latest versions of supported web browsers and resolves a number of other issues discovered in the previous release.
