oneSql is new Mac compatible, SQL database tool

chol.technology has introduced oneSql 1.0, a standalone, lightweight SQL database tool. It's a MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and SQLite SQL query and data import/export program for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

Cambridge English Pronouncing Dictionary released for OS X, iOS

Paragon Software Group (www.cambridge.org) has released Cambridge English Pronouncing Dictionary app for Mac OS X and iOS. It's available for US$14.99 at the Mac App Store and Apple App Store, respectively.

The dictionary app is based on the classic version of Daniel Jones's guide to contemporary pronunciation for British and American English, and is designed to meet the needs of English language learners striving to perfect their pronunciation of even the most challenging words, such as "though" and "honour," personal names, company names, technology and science definitions, and more.

LinkOptimizer now supports the Preserve Details image resampling...

Zevrix Solutions (www.zevrix.com) has launched LinkOptimizer 4.9.20, a maintenance update to its workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign.
The software allows you to reduce the size of InDesign links and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data. It also performs image color conversion and sharpening, converts file formats and more. The new version supports the Preserve Details image resampling method in Photoshop CC and later.

LinkOptimizer can be purchased from the Zevrix website for US$259.95 (there's a "lite" version for $179.95) as well as from authorized resellers. A demo is available for download. PluralEyes 3.5 released as part of Shooter Suite 12.5 update

Red Giant has released Shooter Suite 12.5, which includes new versions of two Shooter Suite products: PluralEyes 3.5 and Instant 4K. New to the suite is Denoiser II, Red Giant's powerful video noise reduction tool.

Also included are the recently updated BulletProof 1.2, as well as Frames and LUT Buddy. PluralEyes 3.5 brings expanded media support, more accuracy, drift correction and more.

Connected Data launches Drobo Mini with SSD drives

Connected Data, the creator of the Drobo line of smart storage solutions, has launched its Drobo Mini with Solid State Disk (SSD) drives. The company says they deliver as much as 80% more performance compared to a Mini configured with traditional spinning hard drives.

The Drobo Mini connects via Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 and features four 2.5-inch SSD drive bays with an mSATA accelerator option in a package that is rugged, compact and portable, weighing less than three pounds. Like all Drobo products, Drobo Mini protects data without user intervention, even in the event of multiple SSD drive failures.

Total War: Shogun 2 coming to the Mac on July 31

Feral Interactive says the historical strategy game Total War: Shogun 2 for Mac will be released via Steam on July 31, with the Mac App Store version scheduled for release in early August.

Developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA® for Windows, this is the latest installment in the Total War series to be brought to the Mac by Feral, following Rome, Empire and Napoleon. A premium version of the game will be released simultaneously and include all additional content.

Total War: Shogun 2 Collection includes the Rise of the Samurai Campaign pack: a stand-alone campaign which challenges players to establish Japan’s first Shogunate 400 years before the events of the main game. It also includes the Dragon War Battle pack, three additional clans and two unit packs. All additional content will be available separately via Steam to customers who purchase the base game.

WaterField launches 15-inch Solo and 13-inch Indy for new...

WaterField Designs (http://www.sfbags.com/) has unveiled a new 15-inch Outback Solo to fit the larger upgraded MacBook Pro Retina and a new 13-inch Indy leather satchel (pictured) to fit the smaller Retina model.

The Outback Solo sports a rugged look, combining waxed canvas with premium leather. The Indy's soft high-grade leather develops a rich patina over time. Both look professional enough for business meetings and fashionable enough for anywhere else, says WaterField owner, Gary Waterfield.

Notebooks for Mac released to complement Notebooks on iOS

Alfons Schmid has announced Mac OS X and Windows versions of Notebooks, a productivity app that combines text processing with task management and file organization.

It includes text processing for plain text, formatted text and Markdown, provides space to store and organize files and documents, and also integrates complex task management. The desktop applications are designed to complement the iPad and iPhone versions of Notebooks.

Notebooks 7 (for iPad and iPhone) costs US$12.99 and are available at the Apple App Store in the Productivity category. Parliant announces new Mac voice messaging product

Parliant has announced Echoes (http://www.echoes-app.com), a new Mac voice messaging product. It's different from Skype, FaceTime, and other voice chat applications because it eliminates "dialing" or setting up connections with your recipients.

Echoes puts an icon in your menu bar where you just choose "Announce" (or press a keyboard shortcut), speak your announcement, and press return. Echoes lets you:

° Announce to other users running Echoes on your local network;

° Announce to everyone, groups of people you configure, or individuals;

° Reply to the sender of the last received announcement'

° Set keyboard shortcuts for sending and replying;

° Resend last sent announcement without re-recording it;

° Replay last received announcement in case you missed it.

Apple revs MacBook Pro line with faster Haswell processors

Apple has updated its MacBook Pro with faster Haswell processors but no Broadwell processors. All 13-inch models now come with 8GB of RAM standard, all 15-inch models now feature 16GB of RAM.

The new 13-inch models include:

° $1299: 2.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB flash storage;
° $1499: 2.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB flash storage;

SilhouetteFX adds new Crop Node, EXR 2.0 multi-part file support...

SilhouetteFX has released version 5.2 of Silhouette, its stereo roto, paint and keying software. The new Crop Node allows working within a small region of a larger image — using less memory with faster performance.


Silhouette now supports EXR 2.0 multi-part files. When a multi-part file is loaded, all of its parts are loaded into the Project window ready for selection and use in the project.

Extending its Auto Paint tools, you can now play back selected events forward or backward, rebuild paint in stroke order, and duplicate strokes from one stereo view to another. Also, rendered clips can now be sent to Tweak Software’s RV playback software (if installed).

Penclic has announced the retail availability of their next generation mice, including the Corded Mouse D3, Wireless Mouse R3 and Bluetooth Mouse B3 on Amazon.com.
