PDF Checkpoint 1.7.14 for OS X improves PDF image preflight

Zevrix Solutions has announced PDF Checkpoint 1.7.14, a maintenance update to its PDF preflight and conversion solution.

The software automatically preflights, exports as images, splits and optimizes multiple Adobe PDF files. It can also convert the color mode of PDF documents, assign ICC profiles, downsample resolution and compress images. The new version improves reliability of image preflighting and fixes a stability issue on Mac OS X El Capitan.

Orb is a new drag and drop radial contextual menu for OS X

ZoomingCube Interactive ( has introduced Orb 1.0 for Mac OS X. It’s a $5 drag and drop, radial contextual menu that allows you to open files with various applications without having to drag them all the way to your Dock.

Orb features a special Preview that displays an enlarged preview of image at the center of the menu. A Direction Sensing feature allows default application to be placed in the direction of gesture.

Orb integrates itself with Finder on Mac OS X. It’s compatible with OS X 10.7 and higher, However, although it’s compatible with El Capitan, it requires disabling SIP in order to function.

24U releases 24U Appearance OSAX 4.0.1 for OS X

24U Software has announced 24U Appearance OSAX 4.0.1 for Mac OS X. The scripting addition allows AppleScript script writers to interact with users via dialogs, notifications, alerts, progress indicators, and floating messages without the need to use a complex development tool, such as Xcode.

Hyperbolic Software has rolled out Tidy Up 4.1.8, the latest version of its duplicate finder and disk tidying utility for Mac OS X.

It locates duplicate items using a wide range of criteria including owner application,time created or modified, name, label, extension and content. Version 4 introduces full El Capitan compatibility, a new view by duplicate group, a quick “auto-check” feature, and new smart search methods. It also sports a rewritten search engine.

Zevrix Solutions has announced BatchOutput PPT 2.2.1, a compatibility update to its output automation solution for Microsoft PowerPoint on Mac OS X.

Thief steals on to the Mac today

Feral Interactive says Thief is out now for the Mac via Steam, with the Mac App Store version set to arrive in December. Developed by Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix for consoles and PC, Thief is the first game in this series to ever come to the Mac.

In Thief, players are challenged to combine stealth, gadgetry and exploration as Garrett, a Master Thief with mysterious skills that make him the most wanted man in a forsaken city. 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage will support Apple CarPlay

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) has announced details for the fuel-2017 Mitsubishi Mirage featuring Apple CarPlay support, a new exterior design, improved performance and enhanced interior appeal. The Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback will be available at dealers in spring 2016.

CarPlay gives iPhone users a way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages with just a word or a touch. Users can control CarPlay from the car’s native interface or just push-and-hold the voice control button on the steering wheel to activate Siri without distraction.

LinkOptimizer for Adobe InDesign gets maintenance upgrade

Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 4.9.51, a maintenance update to its workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign.

The software allows users to reduce InDesign link size and speed up output by eliminating excess image data. LinkOptimizer also performs image adjustments, converts file formats and helps repurpose InDesign files for web and mobile devices. Version 4.9.51 addresses an issue in which duplicate links in InDesign document weren't processed under certain conditions.

Eltima Software has launched Commander One 1.2, the latest version of their dual-pane file manager for OS X.

Starting today, 100 local business owners across the country are the first to accept chip cards and payments like Apple Pay from their customers with Square's new reader, giving their customers a simple, fast, and secure payment experience.

AKVIS releases NatureArt 8.0: Aurora Borealis Effect

AKVIS has released AKVIS NatureArt 8.0, for Mac OS X and Windows. It’s a collection of nature effects for images. Version 8.0 adds the new Aurora effect.

Apple Pay now available to merchants on the GlobalOnePay platform

GlobalOnePay, a provider of omni-channel payment processing technologies and merchant services, now supports Apple Pay. GlobalOnePay merchants will now have another payment method in Canada to offer buyers.

The GlobalOnePay payments processing platform is already accepting Apple Pay in the United States and United Kingdom, where the mobile payment service was already operating.
