Studiometry 12.5 adds forms and more

Oranged Software (www.oranged.com) has updated Studiometry, its client and project management tool, to version 12.5. The software is used by small businesses and freelancers around the world.

The app can create receipts for incoming payments and have them automatically emailed to your clients. These receipts can display your company logo, branded colors, custom notes, and anything else you want to include. 

Version 12.5 adds forms. Forms are saved lists of questions and fields that can be sent to your Client for a response, or entered locally in Studiometry. Form responses can be reviewed to create Projects, To Dos, and Logs.

App Delete for OS X upgraded to version 4.2.5

Reggie Ashworth has announced AppDelete 4.2.5, an update to his application deletion utility for Mac OS X.

Via drag and drop, it will uninstall anything along with all of the associated items. The latest version has been optimized for OS X El Capitan.

Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Studio are now shipping

Blackmagic Design (www.blackmagicdesign.com) has announced that both Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Studio, the world’s most advanced visual effects and motion graphics software, is now shipping and is available for download from the Blackmagic Design website for both Mac OS X and Windows.
 
The release of Fusion 8 is the first ever Mac compatible release of Fusion, which was previously a Windows only product. Fusion 8 Studio is now also available in 10, 20 or 50 multi user licenses. The multi user licenses feature a single USB dongle programmed with multiple licenses that plug into a machine running Fusion Server, which is installed by default with Fusion Studio.

Gartner: double digit growth for smartphones has come to an end

Gartner, Inc. (www.gartner.com) says global smartphone sales will for the first time exhibit single-digit growth in 2016. Global smartphone sales are estimated to reach 1.5 billion units in 2016, a 7% growth from 2015. The total mobile phone market is forecast to reach 1.9 billion units in 2016.

Worldwide combined shipments for devices (personal computers, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones) are expected to reach 2.4 billion units in 2016, a 0.65% increase from 2015, according to the research group. End-user spending in constant US dollars is estimated to decline by 1.6% year-on-year.

"The double-digit growth era for the global smartphone market has come to an end," says Ranjit Atwal, research director at Gartner. Apple celebrates 40th birthday

Apple has hung a pirate flag at its Cupertino, California headquarters — as noted by 9to5Mac.com — to celebrate its 40th birthday. The skull and crossbones flag, which has a rainbow Apple logo as one eye, is a nod to the late Steve Jobs who is quoted as saying: “It’s better to be a pirate than to join the navy.”

On Apple 1, 1976, Apple Computer was born. Their first product: the Apple I, cooked up by Steve Jobs and Steven “Woz” Wozniak. From there it’s been a great ride with products such as the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Tension Software announces Password Repository 3.3

Tension Software has released Password Repository 3.3, an update of the Mac OS X app for managing all your passwords and all the related data in a safe way.

It’s compatible with the similar version for iOS on iTunes; any document created with Password Repository 3 on a Mac, can be transferred via iTunes and used on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad without any changes. Version 3.3 is a maintenance upgrade.

DEVONthink 2.8.10 provides workflow enhancements and bug fixes

DEVONtechnologies has updated all editions of its intelligent information and document manager DEVONthink as well as the smart notebook DEVONnote. DEVONthink help its users classify and organize documents effortlessly with unique artificial intelligence.

Version 2.8.10 adds contextual menu options to HTML 5 videos, supports Airmail 2, and accepts videos sent via the sharing extension. All editions fix minor bugs and glitches too. The updates are free and recommended for all users.

JAMF Software releases new version of Casper Suite

JAMF Software (http://www.jamfsoftware.com), which specializes in Apple device management, has announced a new release of Casper Suite, offering businesses and schools the ability to leverage all new iOS 9.3 features the moment they update their devices. Apple releases iOS 9.3.1

Apple has released iOS 9.3.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It’s available to download through Software Update or at iTunes.

The bug fix update to iOS 9.3 fixes a problem in which apps (and sometimes iOS itself) would crash or hang when links were tapped. iOS 9.3 also featured an Activation Lock bug that affected older devices, including the iPad Air and earlier and iPhone 5s and earlier.

RE:Vision Effects announces RE:Lens for Adobe After Effects CC

RE:Vision Effects has announced RE:Lens, a new set of tools for projection conversion and lens distortion correction. It’s available for Adobe After Effects CC.

RE:Lens straightens curved video captured with wide-angle and fisheye lenses. It works when shooting with action cameras such as a GoPro in ultra-wide mode. You can shoot with a superfish lens on a single camera and convert the video to Latitude-Longitude (LatLong) format suitable for use with all major 360 viewers.

ContactsMate for OS X revved to version 3

Cisdem has given us ContactsMate 3 for Mac (http://tinyurl.com/hfay7j8). It’s an update of the contact management software that will analyze, report, and fix issues with OS X Contacts.

Apple introduces Safari Technology Preview for developers

Apple has introduced Safari Technology Preview (https://developer.apple.com/safari/technology-preview/), a new version of its web browser aimed specifically at developers. It provides an early look at upcoming web technologies in OS X and iOS including the latest layout technologies, visual effects, and developer tools.

Seagate previews USB-powered desktop hard drive with Innov8

Seagate Technology (www.seagate.com) has previewed Seagate Innov8, which it says is the world’s first USB-powered, 8TB desktop hard drive.


The Innov8 is purportedly the world’s first 8TB desktop hard drive that doesn’t need to be plugged into a power outlet. Similar to a standard car requiring a battery kick to start the engine, Ignition Boost together with USB 3.1 enables Innov8 to thrive off bus power. No dedicated power source or adapter is required. Users just plug in the reversible USB-C cable.

Innov8 includes Seagate Dashboard software, which offers users either one-click on-demand or customizable, scheduled backups for their devices. Graph IDE 12.4.8 for the iPad now available on GitHub

VVI has announced that version 12.4.8 of Graph IDE, a data visualization application for the iPad, is now available on GitHub.

To increase the scope of Graph IDE, its Xcode project has been placed at http://GitHub.com/VVI . With that project, any data source be it a database, web service, model or any other source can be incorporated into Graph IDE for drag-and-drop functionality within the already existing interface.

KeyCue for OS X revved to version 8.0

Ergonis Software (www.ergonis.com) has rolled out KeyCue 8.0, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. The upgrade contains new features such as a flexible new way to define a wide variety of triggers, which can be combinations of modifier keystrokes and mouse clicks. G

New version of Elmedia Player for OS X with AirPlay support is...

Eltima Software (http://mac.eltima.com) has released Elmedia Player 6.5, a new version of its universal media player for OS X.

It supports most commonly used audio and video formats and downloads media from the web. Apple to announce its latest financial results on April 25

Apple will announce its financial results for the second quarter of 2016 on Monday, April 25, at 2 pm (Pacific). In January Apple provided the following guidance for the quarter:

Revenue between $50 billion and $53 billion;
Gross margin between 39% and 39.5%;
Operating expenses between $6 billion and $6.1 billion;
Other income/(expense) of $325 million;
A tax rate of 25.5%.
