iTunes 12.3 ready for iOS 9, OS X El Capitan

Apple has posted iTunes 12.3, which adds support for iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan, which is coming later this month.

According to Apple, the upgrade also:

° Offers improved Apple Music accessibility with VoiceOver;

° Resolves a problem that prevented ordering of songs within Up Next;

° Fixes a problem where some radio stations did not appear within Recently Played;

° Addresses an issue where songs you loved on iOS did not appear loved on iTunes;

° Supports two-factor authentication to secure your Apple ID;

° Includes improvements to overall stability and performance.

You can download iTunes 12.3 via the Software Update option in the Mac App Store or from the iTunes website.

iOS 9 now available for download

Apple has released iOS 9. It can be downloaded free via iTunes or as an over-the-air update through the Software Update function in iOS's Settings app.

To install it, you'll need to be using (at least) an iPhone 4s, iPad 2, or fifth-generation iPod touch. iOS 9 will come preloaded on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, launching on Sept. 25, and the iPad Pro, coming in November.

Tim Cook to meet with India's prime minister

Apple CEO Tim Cook is among several CEOs slated to meet with Norendra Modi, Indian's prime minister, when the PM visits the U.S. later this month, reports The Economic Times (

An Apple spokesperson confirmed that a meeting between its Cook and Modi will take place. However, the spokesperson declined to comment on topics of discussion.

The prime minister will be keen to showcase initiatives such as "Make in India" and "Digital India" and persuade the maker of iPhones and iPads to invest in manufacturing and research & development (R&D) in India, says The Economic Times. For its part, Apple has "become increasingly conscious of India's importance as a market," the article adds.

Apple delays watchOS 2

watchOS 2 was due for release today. However, Apple has delayed it due to a bug. The company hasn't said exactly what the issue is.

However, in a statement ( to the press, Apple says: "We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly."

Apple is releasing iOS 9 today, and Norton has shared Norton wanted to share iOS 9 security best practices.

While Apple devices and operating systems have a reputation for strong security, 84 percent of mobile vulnerabilities discovered last year were on iOS according to the Symantec Internet Security Threat Report. iOS 8 now running on 87 percent of compatible devices

An update on Apple's developer web page ( says that iOS 8 is now running on 87 percent of compatible devices.

iOS 7 is running on 11 percent, while all other versions combined account for two percent. iOS 9 is due to be released today. Around this time last year, when iOS 7 was about to be replaced by iOS 8, adoption for Apple's current-generation operating system is down three points.

BatchOutput for Microsoft PowerPoint now supports Office 2016

Zevrix Solutions has announced BatchOutput PPT 2.2, a compatibility update to its output automation solution for Microsoft PowerPoint on Mac OS X.

EPIX offering ability to download movies to watch offline

Entertainment network EPIX has announced that it will offer subscribers the ability to download hit movies directly to their mobile devices, allowing them to watch where they want, when they want - even without access to an Internet connection.

Offline viewing will be available across Kindle Fire and all Apple and Android mobile devices and tablets including iPads, iPhones, and Samsung and Nexus devices. The new offering will be available this month to all EPIX subscribers, launching with a marketing campaign in partnership with affiliated distributors.

Apple loses leading role in mobile phone sales at physical...

Apple has lost its long-held first place in mobile phone sales at physical stores in China to domestic smartphone maker OPPO in August as consumers waited for Apple's phone launch this month, reports My Drivers, as noted by, a global investment newswire.

OPPO took a 11.6% share in terms of sales volume, compared with 9.9% in July. Apple had a 11.4% share, followed by vivo's 10.82% and Samsung's 7.9%, according to My Drivers, citing a report by Sino Market Research. My Drivers is a Chinese website that covers IT industry news and product launches.

Apple TV lottery ends; winning developers can place orders

Following last Wednesday's media event, Apple gave developers an opportunity to sign up for a lottery for an Apple TV Developer Kit. It ended today, and developers who won the lottery are now receiving invitations allowing them to purchase an Apple TV kit, reports

The first Apple TVs could be in developers' hands by the end of this week, the article adds. Developers who were selected for the lottery are required to order by Wednesday, September 16, with orders beginning to ship out one to three days after that. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales off to a raging start

Apple says it's on pace to beat last year's iPhone first-weekend record. Apple shares rose in premarket trading following the announcement.

"Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world," the company told CBNC ( in a statement. "We are on pace to beat last year's 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25. As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period. Apple cuts iPhone prices in Brazil, but hikes iPad prices

Following Apple's latest product launch, the company cut iPhone prices in Brazil, reports Folha de São Paulo, a daily newspaper based in Brazil.

The iPhone 5s (16 GB) now costs BRL 2,300 (about US$597) in the country, down 8% from BRL 2,500. The price for the 32 GB version has been cut from BRL 2,900 to BRL 2,500, says Folha de São Paulo — as noted by BrightWire,.com, a global investment newswire. The iPhone 6 now costs BRL 3,200 in the 16 GB and BRL 3,500 in the 64GB version.

On the other hand, the iPad Air (16GB), which was initially sold for BRL 2,500, now costs BRL 3,500  in Brazil.
