Writer's Kit

Writer's Kit

Want to see your name "in lights"?

Thank you for interest in writing for MacTech Magazine. We are always interested in well written articles that appeal to technical Macintosh users ... from network administrators to programmers, from solution providers to Enterprise, and in general anyone that's interested in the Macintosh beyond the user level.

The first step in writing an article for MacTech is to know what you are getting into. Check out the MacTech Writer's Kit -- and you'll know a lot more about what it's like to write for the Mac technical magazine.

The next step you should take is to submit a proposal to us. If we are interested we will ask for more. Please do NOT submit a finished article and assume that we will want to print it. The last thing we want is for you to spend hours or even days working on your article only to have it rejected because it is a topic we are not interested in.

A proposal should contain the following:

  • An introduction to who you are and contact information for you. If you've had published work you could let us know about it.

  • A synopsis of the article you would like to write. Let us know very quickly the topic you are interested in and why it MUST be printed in MacTech. Really try to sell us on your idea. Do not assume that because you think it is great that we automatically will too.

  • An outline of your article. There should be a clear beginning, middle and an end. Tell us what you are going to write about in the beginning, write about it in the middle, and then sum it up in the end.

For those that are curious, see our Editorial Calendar information.
