MCE Fovea Extreme 3 is a Mac compatible, Blu-ray drive

MCE Technologies (MCE) is shipping the MCE Fovea Extreme 3, a portable, lightweight, USB 3.0 slot-loading optical drive that allows access to all Blu-ray, DVD, and CD optical disc formats on Macs with no built-in optical drive.

It can read and record data and high definition video to 25GB, 50GB, 100GB, and 128GB Blu-ray recordable discs, as well as M-Disc Blu-ray media. Included with the drive is Mac Blu-ray Player software, allowing the playback of commercial Blu-ray titles in high definition directly on the Mac.

QNAP releases Q'center app for managing multiple QNAP NAS...

QNAP (www.qnap.com) has released Q'center, an app that can centrally manage multiple QNAP Network-attached Storage (NAS) units with visualized statistics, allowing IT administrators to check QNAP NAS information and status for troubleshooting.

Q'center provides immediate and complete information to assist IT administrators in making crucial decision, says Jimmy Yang, product manager of QNAP. The dashboard provides a view to monitor the status of QNAP NAS units, including disk volumes, real-time CPU usage, and server log information.

IT administrators can also create specific dashboards based on different scenarios to meet the needs of enterprise IT management. AutoMailer for Mac OS X revved to version 2.2.2

Tension Software has announced AutoMailer 2.2.2, an update of its Mac OS X app that allows you to send personalized emails to multiple addresses, in text or web format, each merged with data from an internal database. It's been optimized for Mac OS X Yosemite.

AutoMailer lets you prepare and  send an unlimited quantity of emails with a single click. Each email can have custom content depending on whom the recipient is. People receiving the emails won't notice any difference compared to standard emails and they will be able to reply to them as usual, according to the folks at Tension Software.

Version 2.2.2 sports: a better diagnostic for missing server parameters; better error messages in log; and better selection of server port. It also has improved, clearer, connection type names.

BatchOutput PDF 2.2.13 improves file reprinting, job folder...

 Zevrix Solutions (www.zevrix.com) has released BatchOutput PDF 2.2.13, a maintenance update to its solution to automate PDF printing with watched hot folders on Mac OS X.

With BatchOutput PDF, users only need to drop PDFs into hot folders and the files will be printed automatically using the assigned output preset. The software saves customers the time and effort of opening and printing each document manually. The new version improves the app's ability to reprint processed files and optimizes job folder handling.

PSG launches Paragon Disk Wiper 15 for Mac OS X Free

Paragon Software Group (PSG) has launched Paragon Disk Wiper 15 for Mac OS X Free (http://www.paragon-software.com/home/dw-mac/). It's a utility to clean hard disks and SSDs or permanently erase critical data on separate partitions or entire hard disks.

With Disk Wiper for Mac, wiping is not accomplished under Mac OS X, but from a special Linux-based flash stick that can be easily created from the program. AKVIS Magnifier 8.0 adds new print options

iWork for iCloud apps now available for Windows, Android users

Apple has made its iWork apps — Pages, Numbers and Keynote — available to users of beyond Mac OS X and iOS apps. Yep, that means Windows and Android users.

The apps are accessible to users without an Apple device through the iCloud Beta program. Anyone can sign up for an Apple ID to access Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for free. Each account comes with 1GB of complementary iCloud storage.

Previously, you could only create an Apple ID login on a Mac, iPhone or iPad. In order to register an Apple ID, go to beta.icloud.com and click the link below the sign-in area that allows users to create an account. Users can then create a login with any email address.

24U Software updates FileMaker plug-ins

24U Software (http://www.24usoftware.com/) has announced an immediate availability of updating custom-developed FileMaker plug-ins and mobile apps for 64-bit architecture.

The new service includes identifying hidden issues, cleaning-up code, creating new builds for FileMaker Server 13 and iOS 8, and more. Owners of FileMaker plug-ins and iOS apps can now hire 24U to update their products for 64-bit versions of FileMaker Server and iOS.
